Heavenly Beam
I set off from Anchorage at 6am in late August to photograph the sunrise at Lake George. The clouds hung so thick over the lake, I had to divert. Two hours later, I returned, and the light was still flat and dull. So I settled down to make a fire. Just before I shut down the aircraft, a momentary sun beam caught my eye on the far shores of the lake. I had less than one minute to pick back up, fly across the lake, and make this image before the sun disappeared altogether.
