Heat Wave
Alaska experienced record heat during the summer of 2019 with startling results. We saw the warmest day in 100 years. The most days above 70 degrees. A week where a thousand wildfires burned at once. I wanted to make an image that said “climate change.” So I walked the shoreline of Lake George for hours one August morning until I found the perfect tableau: Smoke drifted above the parched tundra, shrouding a large number of icebergs shed by Colony Glacier during the heatwave.
